Wednesday 06th - Lame Day

  • Rode to Rotterdam. Jake’s arse not happy with Flite Ti, jealous of my cushy Ergon chair, so we made a b-line for the only Ergon dealer we could find in Rotterdam on google maps. Was out in an industrial area.
  • Bike shop didn’t have Ergon
  • Spoke to Brian
  • We had evening commitments in Amsterdam and were well behind schedule so we got the train!
  • Hung out with Martine, what a darling, was kind enough to let us, sleep on the floor. Went for a few nightcaps and sat by one of the canals. The host with the most.

What did I say about never a rest day?

Underground turbo tunnel crossing a river on the outskirts of Rotterdam.

After wasting half the day trying to find an Ergon saddle for Jake at a stockist that didn't have one, we realised we were well behind schedule to make it to Amsterdam for the evening. We were also not having a good time riding at this stage, quite a bit of pain here and there and here too. Jake really needed a new saddle, I needed some new knees and we had plans to see a friend each in Amsterdam. So, train was going to save us three hours and a lot of pain.

This was the stride of joy... we were in Amsterdam! My first time.
The plan was to enjoy the wonderful city and take a full and proper rest day tomorrow. Get our tourist on and let the good times roll.

Martine's leavened bread on her kitchen counter. This was going to rest overnight before being baked and eaten for breakfast.
