Northbound some more!
Could the delicacies of Germany lock horns with the chocolate sprinkles of The Netherlands? First in the ring was the currywurst.
Cute spot we stopped for tea. We followed this road adjacent to the coast (but flanked by a large ridge stopping the wind) for many hours.
At time of writing, we should have had some cake.
Some time after. Applying tiger balm to my very sore knees. Nothing quite like that cold, numbing feeling to substitute for aching, tearing pain.
After many failed attempts. We pulled off the road at a big bike shop who had Ergon saddles on a few of their bikes in the window. This was it, this was our chance. We had searched long and hard for this. We browsed the racks and boxes of saddles to no prevail. Sold out, the man said. As we were slumping out to resume our fate of chafe, saddle sores and hemorrhoids the man came with an Ergon ST Core, ex-display model. With a discount.
To my many fans who have been wondering, the loud explosions beneath me over the past week were not landmines. It was shortly before this photograph was taken that I realised (after another near-paraplegic moment) that the internal baffles in my Thermarest Neoair were bursting. A large bulbous mound was forming at the foot end of my sleeping bag, as air could pile on in there and the fabric sides were no longer being held in tandem. This photo is a survivor photo.
At time of writing, Thermarest has replaced by bulbous neoair with a spankin' new, electric yellow, 2022 model. (05/10/22)
